A surprise hit from 2020 on PlayStation 4, the action RPG Mortal Shell, is officially getting a sequel for PlayStation 5, with its publisher confirming the news earlier than expected. Developed by Cold Symmetry and published by Playstack, Mortal Shell 2 is set to launch on August 20, 2026, and preorders are now available on the PlayStation Store.

Mortal Shell 2 will be available at a price of $49.99 for the standard edition. There’s also a Devout Edition priced at $59.99, which includes early access for 72 hours and an exclusive set of Obsidian skins for all eight playable Shells. Preordering either edition grants players bonus Skeletal and Obsidian Harbinger skins.

If physical copies are preferred, fans can purchase the Revere Edition from retail stores. This edition comes in a steelbook case, includes an art book, art prints, and download codes for the preorder bonuses, all packaged inside a collector’s box.

Cold Symmetry describes Mortal Shell 2 as a standalone sequel that expands significantly on the original. The game promises faster, more brutal combat, richer weapon customization with extensive upgrade options, and a focus on free exploration within a compact open world. In the game, players take on the role of the Harbinger, tasked with reclaiming the stolen eggs of the Undermether, now fiercely guarded by monstrous creatures.
