While Amazon still utilizes third-party chips where appropriate, Panay emphasized that some key devices are moving toward proprietary silicon, with hints of a broader roadmap that extends beyond smart home products to mobile and portable devices.

Excess heat can slow down devices, diminish performance, shorten their lifespan, and even cause damage to critical components. Improving heat dissipation methods has become one of the main challenges in modern electronic design.
Now, researchers at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, have come up with a unique solution: harnessing bacteria to develop high-efficiency cooling materials.
This innovative approach offers an eco-friendly way to produce thermal interface materials—thin layers placed between electronic components and cooling systems.
These materials fill microscopic gaps that can trap air, aiding in the transfer of heat from hot electronic parts to cooling devices like heat sinks.
The study, published in *Matter*, shows that the bacteria-derived material can conduct heat five to ten times better than many traditional thermal interface products.
Led by Dr. Weinan Xu, an assistant professor in materials science and engineering, the team avoids traditional manufacturing methods that consume large amounts of energy. Instead, they use bacteria to help create the material under much gentler conditions.
The process begins by feeding certain bacteria sugar, which fuels their growth. Metal ions are also supplied to act as building blocks for the final product.
As the bacteria multiply, they naturally produce both organic and inorganic substances that combine into a highly effective heat-conducting structure.
One major benefit of this method is that everything occurs at room temperature in water, unlike conventional techniques that require high heat, harsh chemicals, and significant energy input.
This bacteria-based process sidesteps many environmental issues associated with traditional manufacturing, while yielding a material with superior cooling performance.
Effective cooling is especially crucial as modern electronics demand more power.
Powerful computers, AI systems, electric vehicle batteries, drones, and military gear all generate substantial heat during operation. Improved cooling methods enable these systems to run faster, more reliably, and for longer periods without overheating.
The research has already attracted interest from DARPA, the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, which is funding efforts to develop next-generation cooling solutions for military electronics and energy storage. The agency focuses not just on performance but also on cleaner, more sustainable manufacturing processes.
Beyond electronic cooling, the scientists believe this bacteria-based technique could have other applications. It might help recover valuable rare earth elements used in electronics and renewable energy tech. Additionally, the structures created by bacteria could be compatible with biological tissues, opening doors for biomedical uses such as tissue engineering and medical research.
Although promising, the technology still requires refinement. Currently, producing enough material can take days or even weeks. Researchers are working to shorten this timeline and lower costs, aiming for large-scale manufacturing.
Xu’s team is also collaborating with industry partners to explore commercial opportunities, including cooling solutions for computers, EV batteries, drones, and other high-power electronic devices.
If scaled successfully, bacteria-based manufacturing could lead to more affordable, environmentally friendly cooling materials—enhancing device performance and reliability while minimizing ecological impact.

Each character’s development includes various components that need attention. You can’t expect a character to perform well immediately after acquiring it; upgrades and console enhancements are essential.
At first glance, the console system might seem complex due to its cartridge and module parts. However, once you understand what these components are and how they work together, you’ll see that the system is quite straightforward and maybe even better than other games.
Cartridges and Modules Explained
When working on a character’s console, focus on two main parts: cartridges and modules. Here’s how they differ:
Cartridges are the foundation of your console. They determine the buffs your character will receive when certain set effects activate. They are also the only console parts that come with a dedicated main attribute for the character instead of just attack (ATK) and health points (HP).
Modules are components that can be shared across all characters since they all have ATK and HP as main stats. The sub-attributes of each module, however, influence which character they are best suited for.
Together, these components trigger what’s called a Cartridge Upgrade. This system works by providing specific buffs if your console contains two or four particular types of modules along with the cartridge. As you progress to endgame, your goal is to equip each character with the best cartridge and the right modules to activate their buffs.
Once you have the correct modules in place, fill the remaining spots in your console with other modules, ideally using every space to maximize your stats.
How to Get Cartridges
Since cartridges are vital to each character’s kit, they’re mainly farmed using a shared resource called Character Pixel. While you can sometimes obtain cartridges from quests or other gameplay activities, these sources usually don’t provide enough for your needs.
To find the locations where you can farm cartridges, head to the Exploration Guide and look at the fourth section on the left. Here, you’ll see a category labeled “console.” Clicking “Go” on any cartridge type will take you directly to the domain where you can farm them.
Note: When you farm a domain, there’s a random chance to obtain cartridges from the featured sets. Even if you get the right cartridge, its main and sub-attributes are randomized each time you acquire it. The ultimate goal is to farm until you find cartridges with perfect attributes for each character. Afterward, you can upgrade them using other cartridges, modules, or specific materials.
How to Get Modules
Modules are a bit trickier, as they share a larger pool of options across the game, making farming for them less straightforward. You’ll need to use the rewind feature, accessible from the console menu or each character’s individual console screen.
Within the rewind system, you can spend different rarities of the resource called Carrota to attempt pulls at modules, with varying difficulty levels. The first difficulty provides completely random modules, while higher difficulties let you choose from a pool of eight modules, which slightly increases the cost of each pull.
Tip: It’s generally not worth spending your Character Pixel on cartridge or module farming unless you can obtain rare (gold) rarity items from your attempts.
When you get a module with sub-attributes you prefer, you can enhance it using the same upgrade materials as cartridges. Your main objective in this system is to approach the ideal stats for each character by carefully selecting and upgrading their cartridges and modules.

Having attended CES multiple times, I’ve seen how, despite some major companies scaling back their presence, the event continues to expand. It dominates the massive floors of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), and extends into The Sands and Mandalay Bay convention centers. Additionally, numerous meetings and briefings occur across the many luxury hotels along the Strip.
In essence, CES offers a vast showcase of innovation—a perfect way to set the tone for the year. Let’s explore what’s on the horizon.

The 2026 edition promises a bumper crop for computing enthusiasts. Intel is expected to introduce its Panther Lake CPUs, while AMD’s CEO, Lisa Su, will headline the keynote and rumors suggest a launch of the Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor. Nvidia also plans a press event, with whispers about a new RTX 50 “Super” Series—meaning the “big three” are all set to make their mark.
